UFC 102: Couture vs Nogueira

When the history of mixed martial arts is written, two names will stand at the top of heavyweight division: Randy “The Natural” Couture and Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira. These two fighters are looking to make another UFC title, and to get there, they will be facing each other in the Octagon in the main event of UFC 102: Couture vs Nogueira.

Couture vs Nogueira is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on August 29, 2009 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon and is the UFC's first-ever event in the state. It will feature former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion, Randy Couture (16-9 MMA, 13-6 UFC), facing off against former PRIDE Heavyweight and UFC Interim Heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (31-5-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC).

"We're extremely excited to be heading to Portland," UFC President Dana White stated. "When you get two mixed-martial-arts legends that are all heart and have wanted to fight each other for years, plus the fact that Randy has roots in Oregon, that tells me that not only will the crowd be electric, but it's also a night where the fighters will be looking to cement their legacies."

Randy Couture vs Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is indeed a dream match!

UFC 99 main attraction

One of the main attraction in the coming UFC 99 will be the card of the unbeaten rising star Cain Vasquez and a former heavy weight title contender Heath Herring. Cain will face his one of the biggest fight in the UFC when he steps into the Octagon on June 13th, Saturday. Sunday here in the Philippines at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany for their heavy weight bout.

Added to the card is the heavy weight match up of England's Mustapha Al Turk againts the UFC unbeaten new comer Todd Duffe.

Vazques as pro with the record of 5 wins with no losses. Velasquez has stormed through his three UFC opponents thus far, stopping Brad Morris, Jake O’Brien, and Denis Stojnic. But this wresteler form Arizona has never fought a guy like Heath Herring 28-14-1NC, who fought some of the best fighters in the UFC, like Brock Lesnar the current champion, Antonio Rodrigo Noguera, Chek Congo, Inson Inoue, Vitor Belfort, Mark Kerr, Igor Vovchanchyn, Fedor Emelianenko, and Mirko Cro Cop.

In this fight, if Cain Vazquez will beat Herring impressively he will go up high in the ranking and continue for his campaign to the world title shot. The undefeated Cain goes up against one of the UFC biggest name in the heavy weight division, what a great fight it could be.

Brandon one of the top talents in Light heavy division

The light heavy weight division is one of the most exciting division in UFC.

Our very own, Brandon" The Truth" Vera a Filipino-American is one of the top talents in this division the light heavy weight division. This guy is really talented in the field of mixed martial arts, he mixes with a high caliber of wrestling and vastly underrated Brazilian Jui Jitsu with one of the best in his division in Muay thai. But in his three or four fights he dropped two of it maybe it's because of the weight problem, as I remembered that one of his two losses, was when he was still fighting in the Heavy Weight division. I read a MMA articles when Brandon was still undefeated that one of the MMA experts Joe Rogan said that he can won both the heavy weight and light heavy weight divison. Now, that Brandon properly reshape his body and very comfortable in the 205 lbs. division, looks very sharp and scary especially in his last fight as he's opponent surrendered late in the second round of their fight. The leg kick he put up on that fight was very impressive, the best lower body attacked in the UFC fight, I've ever seen since Pedro Rizzo of heavy weight division. If Brandon remains focused on his every fight and the intensity is always their, and carry his aggresiveness in his future fights. Not far that he could be the next champion in the light heavy weight division.

Former Light Heavy weight champions looking to bounce back

One of them trying to bounce back is Chuck"The Ice Man" Lidell, one's he was one of the most feared strikers in the sports of mixed martial arts. But that was gone after suffering losses three of his last four fights, including two of his defeats by knockout. Now, Lidell is not good as he was during his championship reign, he doesn't have that same footwork bounces that usually had. And he doesn’t appear to have the same sharp reflexes needed to sit back and counter strike, something Liddell loves to do. Nonetheless, the last thing to leave a fighter is his punching power. Thus, Liddell remains ultra dangerous each time he steps into the cage. This coming April 18, he will return to the octagon facing Mauricio"Shogun"Rua two of the game thrilling strikers. This bout should be a firefight for as long as it lasts. In this fight if Shogun isn't in his top form and good physical condition mybe he might end up in the canvass unconcious. And if Lidell the one in bad form maybe he will end it up lying on the canvass. Expect this fight full of intensity and fire, as maybe it is the last chance for another championship run for the "ice man".
